The Santa Fe Trail, the Great Lakes regions, Lewis and Clark country and the Mississippi River are just a few examples of areas found in the Midwestern states of Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, Michigan, the Dakotas and more. Historic inns make great weekend get aways in these locations to remind visitors of the roots of our forefathers and their struggles as the nation developed.
Southwest and Western regions: A blend of cultural delights awaits visitors in the Southwest regions of the United States. The Wild West holds great fascination for many individuals, which is one reason that historic inns such as the LaFonda in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Native American and pioneer spirit and influence remain strong in pueblo style architecture, as well as the rough hewn styles of early cattlemen and ranchers in Arizona. Several historic inns date back to the late 1800’s, with original detail meticulously retained in architecture while offering modern conveniences.
A great vacation doesn’t necessarily need to span a week, especially when great weekend get aways at historic inns are at your disposal.
